Flash memory
The Midline cockpit is controlled by a 16-bit micro controller. The controller software (called firmware) is saved in a non-volatile flash memory like in a memory stick and can by update easily by newest firmware. You can find the most update firmware including the corresponding Windows flash loader on our Update page.
Stepper motor
Stepper motors are the best choice for high precision positioning of gauges and are used e.g. in cockpit instrumentation of european cars too. Stepper motors are moving doing small equal steps. The microcontroller count this steps and thus knows exactly the gauge position. The reproduction of gauge positions using stepper motors is nearly perfect.
In this video (Windows Mediaplayer) you can see the smooth and precise movements of our cockpit instruments using stepper motors.
